For the streaks, it's unfortunate it's not built-in as it is on Apple Books but if I'm using a dedicated e-reader I can just use an app (Habit) on my iPhone to keep track of my streaks. So, basically, what should I do? Stick with Apple Books and get the iPad? Or an e-reader that's probably a bit cheaper and has the same stats/streaks and EPUB support? If the latter, which e-reader should I get? Kindle doesn't seem too great for EPUBs, especially having book covers displayed, whilst Kobo seems okay for EPUBs but I'm unsure if it has the streaks and stats support like Apple Books.Įdit: Thanks for all of your responses, really insightful and helpful for someone new to e-readers! I think, because of the affordability and ease of simply bringing ePubs over from my MacBook Air using USB-C, I'll go with the Kobo Clara 2E. Right now, I'm conflicted between getting an e-reader with the e-ink display, getting an older, cheap iPad (might be heresy around these parts but it'll work with Apple Books and there's a 7th gen iPad going for $200 CAD in my area), or just sticking it out with my iPhone. I'm trying different themes and fonts that seem to work better, but I'm tempted to just get something bigger to help my eyes out. Increasingly, though, I've been finding reading on my iPhone to be tough on the eyes I use blue light glasses but after staring at a laptop screen all day for school/work, I guess concentrating on a smaller screen and text is difficult for my eyes. I like Apple Books because of the daily reading goal and reading streak features that help to keep me motivated to read. This is really convenient and has allowed me to start reading consistently and significantly more than before. I read EPUBs on Apple Books, primarily on my iPhone 12, which I bring into my Apple Books app on my MacBook and sync it using iCloud. Hey y'all, first time on this sub so apologies if this is a common/annoying question.
